As a teenager growing up in Baltimore, I had a close friend — Christian Albert — whose father, head coach of a Division I football team, imparted a piece of wisdom I never forgot:
“Frank, it’s better to PREPARE for the opportunity — and never get the opportunity — than to get the opportunity and not be PREPARED.”
Rote at first sight.
Like anything else in life, a Healthy Eating Lifestyle requires PREPARATION.
Even a simple meal like this — great for anyone living on a tight budget (cost me less than $4 bucks total) — well there is some prep time involved:
20 mins or so… plus washing the dishes afterward.
I think that prep time, 20 to 30 minutes, is a stumbling block for a lot of people. It’s a fast-paced world, where Convenience is King (or Queen).
Every great achievement happens over time — usually many years. One habit, one action at a time.
One meal at a time.
There is no Excellence in Edibility wiithout exercising patience.
Patience anchors Preparation.
They go hand-in-hand.
Patience must be a priority.
Even with our meal prep.
Generally speaking, more convenient = less healthy.
Today I fasted for 15-16 hours, drank water with lemon, Tulsi and Hibuscus tea, and ate two meals.
This is the second (and final) meal of the day:
Organic Squash;
Organic Spinach;
Organic Black Beans;
Onions;
Balsamic Vinagrette;
Cayenne pepper;
Redmond Sea Salt;
Oregano;
Organic mango slices.
A little prep and patience today,
Means a brighter and healthier you tomorrow.
